  • Yes. As of January 1st, pharmacists in Ontario are able to prescribe for 13 minor illnesses/conditions.

Our pharmacists have completed specialized courses in minor illnesses and, combined with their many years of experience, are qualified to assess and prescribe medications for the 13 minor illnesses/conditions as set out by the Province of Ontario.

Pharmacists have a university degree in pharmacy and are required to complete continuing education programs in order to maintain their license to practice in Ontario.

They are constantly upgrading their skills and knowledge to provide you with the best care possible.

  • Not always! The outcome depends on your assessment with the pharmacist.

If the pharmacist feels confident that the symptoms of your condition merit a prescription, the pharmacist will prescribe the appropriate medication for you.

However, in some cases, your symptoms may not meet the criteria for a prescription. In these cases, the pharmacist may recommend an over-the-counter product to treat your condition or, if it is more serious, refer you to your doctor or the HealthSense Medical Walk-In Clinic on-site.
